So I am 9 weeks pregnant...I've been doing really well, no spotting nothing to out of the ordinary (I think..) I've been staying away from caffeine drinks, smoking and those that do I don't go around them. Well I thought hard about going to a bar last night because of the fear of the smoke.... but others around me felt that it would be okay just once to get out and since I'm not around it all the time I should be okay. Well I'll admit, I did drink one beer. Just one. I have not drank anything alcoholic since I've known of my pregnancy except for last night, I tend to never do it again.... but now this morning and all today I've had lower back pain. I've never had that through my pregnancy.... I've heard that's normal?? I don’t know. Am I just being really paranoid of a miscarriage or am I okay?

You are being paranoid,...but just so you know that it's more important to stay away from alchohol at the early stages of pregnancy, where it can affect the baby's brain development in more serious ways..

If you don't drink anything, you won't have anything to worry about
But if you do and God-forbid anything happens to your baby, I promise it won't be easy to forgive yourself!!! It sucks, but it's worth the wait!

If you haven't read "What to expect when you are expecting" then I reccommend it, it has alot of Q and A's
Congratulations with your pregnancy!
You should call your Gyno with any questions though, that's what they are there for!

Back pain is normal with pregnancy but usually not that early in pregnancy. Just make an appointment with your doctor to reassure you that everything is okay. If you start spotting or bleeding before that appointment go straight to the ER.

I don't think smokey bar or one beercan cause a miscarriage. Me I didn't even know I was pregnant until 11 weeks. I was out everynight drinking doing drugs smoking whatever. Right up until I found out. Now I'm clean and sober and all that great stuff. But it depends on your pain. Is it like pain that comes with a period? Like is it unbareable? If yes go to the ER. If no rest with your feet up. If you start to miscarry theres nothing they can do at this point. But believe me it wasn't becuz you had a beer.

Depending upon how you are carrying, various parts may be subject to pain more than others, although 9 weeks isn't very likely to pinch nerves, or exert pressure since there is no real weight involved. I know people who had horrible trigeminal neuralgia, back pain, leg pain, heartburn, etc. If you are having extreme pains, make sure to get to your doctor.

pain and discomfort is only going to get worse as you go on. some advice for you; don't go to the bar. there are other things to do with your friends, you know. if you think there isn't anything else to do with your friends then you might have some issues, especially later after you have the baby when you want to blow him/her off for night after night at the bar with your friends. seriously, the nine months before you have a child go by super fast but it's also some time to prepare for the HUGE lifestyle change that's going to take place. i don't think the one beer is that harmful. but i also don't think the bar is the best choice for entertainment while you're pregnant. and, yeah, the smoke too. that'll probably really bother you later if you get morning sickness at all too.

Yes lower bk. pain is.normal during pregnancy. I found out that if you take a walk it builds your lower back strength and it won't exert you. I walked in the malls with the mall rats.

back pain is very common and normal--especially in the beginning and at the end.
