I understand that the welfare system helps women, but why do most women stay on welfare and choose not to work

Sometimes they have no choice. If the truth were known, many welfare recipients would rather work to support themselves and their children, rather than have goverment subsidies. Many of them are widowed, divorced or single moms who have children with special needs. They can't afford to pay others to watch their kids, so it's easier for them to stay home. Some of them are ill, or have physical disabilities that prevent them from getting a full-time job. Many of them are taking classes to learn a trade or profession so they can pull themselves out of the hole. There are lots of women, and families too, that are on assistance. Each case is different. Most women are not on welfare by choice, or because they're lazy. The majority are not to be looked down upon, but to be applauded for doing the best they can under very extenuating circumstances.

you might have to ask them...could be mental conditioning or someone took off on them and theyre depressed...just guessing...one kid should be the limit the govt should finance IMO

I'm not sure it's the case for most women. Please give statistics.
