Yes, you can. When I was a nurse's aid in Salt Lake City, there was a 19 year old boy that had fallen off a roof(he was working) and it tore his aorta, they told him he would never walk again. I was only with this young man one day, because he told me he didn't need a babysitter, I informed his parents and they said okay. I told him that with his determination, that someday he would walk again. He asked me if I was sure. I told him yes.
I didn't see him again for about 8 years and I was working in a truck stop and this young man said to me, you don't remember me do you, he said it is because of you that I am walking today. He said, you told me with detemination that I would walk. I flew from behind that counter and gave him a hug. He told me thank you so much for believing in me.
So you see just a few hours of talking with this young man gave him the determinaton to prove me right. I had tears running down my face when he told me that.
I did make a difference in that young man's life, just by being his friend.

Oh yes. I think I have had a significant impact on the life of a certain person in the space of an hour's time. Showing my notebook to the department chair of math at the local college at least got him really thinking, I think.

Yes, if you kill them quickly.

Seriously, I think it is easy to have a fast negative impact, but harder to have a fast positive impact. Doesn't mean it can't be done, but it's rare.

I had great cab driver once that changed my view of cab drivers and of that city.

Absolutely. Just depends on the person and the kharma between the two of you. If it's there, it's there instantly.

I don't think you can consciously do that-- I think it's entirely up to the other person what your effect on them is.
