I know, it's a strange question, but I really am in a pickle right now. I am making a layout for my brother's Half Life server site, and he doesn't like the menu bar at all. He says he wants something with rounded buttons that still goes with the theme of it all. I can't find any that we both like. Should I tell him just to make his own, or do you know of any sites that have good tutorials on grungy buttons?

Oh, yeah, here's the layout as it stands now:

Considering the military style of the page I would choose military plates (chrome or black, with or without screws) or military buttons as background for the links on the left. If you agree with me google for vintage military plates and buttons in images.

Good work :)

for one thing it looks more miltary than gangsta. I'd use a font like microgram or for the other end, Cabeen Crappy.
If you take these and make them light blue, give them a add noise filter and then a motion blur, it'll make a nice brushed metal effect.
