Barcelona is definately easy to get to from southern France, it won't be too hot, but should remain temperate due to being on the mediterrean sea. There are websites that give you avg temps and rainfall by month for nearly the whole world it seems. Barcelona has a lot to offer in terms of tourism and history, art/architecture

Travel to Spain Barcelona as it now has every leisure and sports facility possible since 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Most visitors stay in or near the Ramblas or in the Gothic Quarter just to the east. This is a good base from where you can explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada Família Cathedral, and Parc Güell in the north. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelona.htm for more details.
