7% less than what it is now, so, minus 7% from 100% and get 93%, which equals .93

Now you can multiply this year's price by 93% and get what the price would be if it was 7% less last year.

21020(.93) = 19548.60

Don't do your own homework, it doesn't help you in the future, trust me.

All percent problems can be solved as porportions. Here you have this year's price / last year's price = (100 + 7)/100 or
21020 / last years price = 107/100
Product of the means (middle numbers ) = product of the extremes (outside numbers) so
last year's price x 107 = 21020 x 100
Solve for last year's price by dividing by 107 and you get
last year's price = (21020x100)/107 ~= $19644.86
Hope this helps you see how to do this. For more info see

(See other things on that homepage also, they explain a few related ideas very well, with much better text editing than I can do here.)
Really, you need to understand how to do this for youreself, otherwise a used car dealer could cheat you!

21020 = 21020 - 7%

21020 = 21020 - (21020 x .07)

21020 = 21020 - 1471.40

21020 - 1471.40 = 19548.60 = last year price

P(now) = P(then)(r)^1
21020 = P(then)(1.007)
(21020)/(1.007) = P(then)
20873.8828 = P(then)

Ao the price last year was $20,873.88.
