It may be difficult to find someone for free, but anything is possible.

The best bet would be to go to a local university or hospital and see if there are graduate student interns who are taking new clients. They will typically require a lower fee than one who has completed all degree requirements.

If that isn't a possibility, there are many therapists/counselors who will work on a sliding fee basis where you basically pay what you're able to pay, based on your income, savings, etc.

Yes, I actually do know where you can speak to a counselor for free...you probably won't want to go there but it's probably the only place that doesn't charge anything...and that place is called church. My dad is a counselor working for a church, he has a degree in psychology so he is a professional, and I know for a fact that when people come to him he doesn't shove religion down their throat, he actually tries to not even mention religion...he simply listens and gives real-life advice. I am sure there is a near-by church that offers those kind of services, and most churches offer that for free! You should just try it, you've got nothing to lose, and if you decide that you didn't like the counselor, who cares? You didn't lose anything!

It is a good thing that you are at least looking for a counselor! Good Luck!

Check the phone book. Almost every town has a low priced or free counseling service. Boy's Club of America has a phone number (check online), and they're not just for boys.
