I'm only 25 but it is definitely scary sometimes. I don't think they're all stupid, but I do think that the education system is letting them down and I don't think nearly enough parents are insisting that they're kids GET a quality education!

I think we are now witnessing the draw backs of the "me first" generation. These adults are so wrapped up in their own lives and careers, that they're not seeing that their children get the same education so that they too, can enjoy a fruitful career and life. Kids today are raised by daycare/schools that feed them ritalin rather than teach them grammar. Sad...but true.

No, the majority of today's teens are very intelligent. Maybe not academically smart, but they are not dummies.

Working at a college I have the opportunity to see thousands of names. It seems that for the past 20 years mothers want to name their little darlin's something not everyone else would think of. They spell the most common names in the weirdest ways. Asking if Kennedy is spelled with a K or with a C is not a dumb question.

Look, when you're a teenager, adults are stupid, when you're an adult teenagers are stupid. But really, just because there are a few lazy and stupid teens out there, doesn't mean you can classify all of us as dumb. I'm 16, I'm top in my class, I have straight A's, and I have a 99% in a Pre-Calculus class that has only 3 A's and about half the class is failing, and these aren't dumb people failing, it's an honors class. Yeah, I play video games and am never seen without my mp3 player, I'm teenager, but just because a few of us let those things control our lives doesn't mean all teens are stupid.

Are today's adults really stupid?
I've told my dad a hundred freaking times how to set the Go(may our heavenly father condemn it)amn VCR and he still can't do it without my help.

Oh, by the way, I'm dyslexic so watch it with the spelling remarks.

That's pretty bad!! I don't think they are stupid, but they are not getting the education that some of us received. I don't think they study either. I can tell for sure on this site. It is easy to tell when a question is from a teenager. But sometimes the spelling is unbelievably bad; words that we learn how to spell in elementary school.

Another good example is the person on here who brags about being in the top percentage of the calculus class. Look closely "A hundred freaking times....". There is no such thing as "A" hundred; how about "one hundred"!!! There you have it!

I am a teenager. I had a fine private school education and made excellent marks year after year. I am conversant in many different fields of study, and possess a reasonably good command of grammar and syntax. Furthermore, I guarantee you that I can spell "Kennedy". As with adults, just because some of them are hopelessly undereducated doesn't mean that all of them are.

I am a teenager, and I can pretty much say.. yeah, most of them are pretty stupid. All they care about is getting drunk and having sex. It's obvious that the situation doesn't change much once people get into college, either. A lot of them simply don't..think. About life, or about anything. Just about telling all their friends how they're going to get drunk over the weekend. Book-smart? Sure. Actually intelligent? Not too many.

Blame it on America's public school education system. A homeschooler/private schooler would probably USUALLY not ask dumb questions (at least not dumb questions that are academically dumb, though they may be naive about how people in the outside world are) although, to be fair, many names are spelled in unconventional or nontraditional ways. So the question could have been very legitamite.

hell, my kid asked to play playstation , but no matter how many times he taught me how to defend and attack during the game, i simply sucked. watching him flawlessly playing was something to be admired. back to your question, you want someone to fill their head with (useful or useless ) knowledge just so he can play jeopardy. i couldn´t agree more with this phrase

Strange as it may seem, no amount of learning can cure stupidity, and formal education positively fortifies it.
