Well, for a lot of reasons. Here's two that obviously don't apply to everyone, but they're very popular reasons.

One big problem is our nation's politics and foreign policies. We're known as the big bully on the block. Anyone who plans on getting mad at me for that statement go ahead and talk to some international people before thumbs-downing me, okay??

Another problem is that Americans in general tend to believe in our cultural hegemony We think our way of doing things is the best way. So we tend to ignore what's going on in other countries. We don't spend much time learning about other cultures. And then when we go abroad we expect the other cultures to bend to our way of doing things. And if we come across something different we usually turn our noses up at it.

Obviously not everyone does this. But enough people do this so we as a people are seen as self-centered, idiotic slobs.

And before anyone yells at me for this answer keep in mind that refusal to see our flaws along with our greatness is what makes people hate us so much. So go ahead and prove them right if you want.

I don't hate Americans. I do, however, hate the American government.

I think the reason some people hate Americans is because they don't know any real American people, they just go by what they see on the news, on television programs and on the internet. No offense to anyone, but there are a lot of obnoxious people on the internet, and a lot of them happen to be American. Having said that, I have gotten to talk to a lot of cool American's on the net.

America has it's faults, but a country that produces Elvis and Jimi Hendrix can't be bad :)

By the way, I'm not American.

Alot of Nations Hate Americans because they are a Christian Nation. The Fore Fathers of Democracy (Means the People) Were God Fearing Men! America Was Blest because Men fought for what was right and many died fighting for freedom for Men and Women to worship our Creator.Ever talk to a World War 2 Vetran?they can tell you some horrific storys.May America Continue to be Blest!

Because SOME Americans are lazy, snobby, self-absorbed, rude, crude, obnoxious, narrow-minded, idiotic, loud, etc.

Many non-Americans are taught however that this is ALL Americans unfortunately, and the likelihood of these people actually running into REAL Americans, is slim to none, so...

What I have been told is that we are arrogant and rude. Many think that we do not have decent morals and that America is not a safe place to live. These are general examples of what I have heard over the years. I think that because they are used to their own culture, they cannot accept the differences easily. But, I don't see many rushing back to their native third world countries!

that`s actually a sad question, but somewhat true...i am not american, my father is though, and all i can say, is alot of countries dislike(hate is too strong a word) americans, reason being, americans are people whom love their country and whom are very strongwilled folks...i adore americans, always have, always will...there are times i`ll admit where i feel some americans can be very obnoxious about their country, thinking they are thee best etc etc....but nonetheless, i believe it is because they are so dedicated to their country...i am canadian, , and us canadians feel the USA is our sister country, one of akind...so do not let other countries rejection against u, bother you...you are a awesome country!!!

Non Americans are jealous of our prosperity, our freedoms, and our rights.
We can say that GW Bush is a moronic chipmunk & NOT get shot....if you say that in a lot of other countries, about the leaders, you might disappear....forever!

sometimes its because of americans that go to other countries and leave a bad impression or sadly also because of bush and our government because they think that all americans think that theyre the best and can do as they please with everyone else.... other people's view on americans has changed significantly the past few years...
