It depends on the cause of the overheating, and if the overheating has caused additional damage! If can be something simple, and very inexpensive (like a bad radiator cap) to major problems that can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, (like a bad head gasket or cracked head).
With more information I might be able to give a better idea of the repair costs!

How low is down? How wet is water? What kind of car with what engine? Why is it overheating? From the looks of this question I'm going to say you've probably blown your head gaskets anyway. Just take a hefty bag full of money to your local mechanic.

properly it relies upon on what you recommend by potential of overheated and broke down... If the engine temp gauge went to the main well liked mark and the vehicle smoked and stopped working, you have got warped your head or blown your head gasket. For destiny reference, by no potential enable your motor vehicle get previous 3/4's of ways up on the temperature gauge or you're able to do some severe and expensive harm. in case you motor vehicle had an aluminum head, it in all probability warped and needs to get replaced. My buddy basically had his head replaced and it fee 800 dollars, yet his motor vehicle exchange right into a mazda 323 from 1992. desire this facilitates

Could be $5. for a faulty thermostat or maybe $20 for a thermostatic fan switch. Really depends on the car. Could be a blocked rad(mucho if you got to get a new one)
You have to narrow it down to Y it is overheating.

i own a repair shop, and it would depend on whats really causing it to over heat,,i have repaired them for as little as 50 bucks,,and some of them can go as high as a thousand,,didn't mean to scare you there,,but it could be a bad head or anything,,you need to have it checked really good before you let anyone start working on it,,if you don't,, you may find the repair bill to be worth more than the car is worth,,but it can be just about anything causing this,,have it checked real good ,,hope this help,s,good luck,,happy new years.
