I think it is some sort of description (kinda like gothic, jock, nerd...) but I have no idea what it means and what a person who is "emo" would look/behave like.

Emo means "EMOtional". It is first and formost a genre of music and later became a scene in pop culture.It is a scene just like prep, goth, nerd, jock, etc.
"Emo is associated with cutting oneself with a blade of any type and being very depressed. Emo people usually wear black, and many put their hair to one side of the face. Another attribute of participating in the "Emo" scene is to have snake bit piercings"
thats kinda the sterotypical version of the meaning, take it from a real life emo *le Gasp!*
emo is just another label for someone who is into a certain style of music and sometimes is suffering form some form of an anxiety, or sometime they can just be people who are anti-social and very different compared to some people...not all emos cut themselves though, those are some serious cases not to be confused with emos. although some emo kids do engage in self infliction it is not always true of the person. Not all emos wear black, we often wear bright festive colors like pink,yellow,green etc... but it's not a very good idea to label them just because of apperance...

someone who is kindof depressed, doesnt socialize much, a common joke is that they sit in corners and listen to music with their hood up. For myspace, emo means "one who doesnt look at the camera"

teehee emoitional. a half goth half punk person who crys a lot and basically gave up on life. go to www.youtube.com and look up I Must Be Emo and watch the video. it explains it all. lol.

these are very emotional people generally depressed claiming that no one understands them telling the whole world they are going to kill themselves bla,bla, bla usually men have long hair in their foreheads and stuff

my daughter said emo means someone who is suicidal....they cut themselves......she said they try to cut a main vessel like in there upper thigh or wrist or something.
