Cars a 91 Z32 twinturbo. In the right rear 1/4, near the suspension turret, Ive discovered a leak from what appears to be either an ABS unit or something similar. Im not competant enough to repair or even remove it myself, any ideas what it could be? Im losing around 100ml every 1000km. Braking doesnt feel very even either, not at all straight and stable under heavy braking. What should I advise my mechanic to look for first?

This is not an internal leak as internal leaks are internal pressure leaks. If you can see a leak in the R.R. area, take it apart so you can see what you are looking for. If you are not competent to do this, get someone who is and quickly as this can cause an accident. At this time there is no chance it has anything to do with any part of the ABS. The ABS uses electrical components to block, release, or increase pressures from reaching the apply hydraulics of the brake system in each corner. You simply have a leak in a wheel cylinder or brake caliper, depending on having either four wheel disc brakes or disc/drum brake system. There is also a chance that the leak comes from a brake pipe, flex hose, defective gasket, or loose line. Quit driving this car or get it fixed immediately, you will be liable if involved in an accident while knowing that your car is unsafe!!!!!!

Hey Brake inspection in most shops cost 43$ and labor rate for every hour at the most 86$ for technican acording to labor rate laws. If i was you i do the backyard mechanic , Jack up the car and remove the Right rear wheel. Wipe off the brake fluid that you see and then have somewon in the driver set pump on the brake while in start mode. Observe where the leak comming from. Too bad their not a special dye for brake fluid then it be easier to find out where exactly is costing the leak. If it disk brake ? it could be piston boot leak ? or brake line ? So try that and see what happens. Either way ? the mechanix will replace the parts ? bleed the brake and try to sell you thing that you will need. hope i help

just tell them to do a full brake inspection, sounds like you have a leaking line, they rust out and bust when they get old and if you dont change the brake fluid every 2 years its hydroscopic and it absorbs water and moisture and then rusts. i bet its a line leaking, the abs unit and pump are in front if car so its not that. the only thing that could be leaking in rear is a line or fitting to the caliper. good luck.

i own a repair shop, and it sounds like a brake line on it,,there's one that runs over from the center of it that might have cracked on it,,this might be causing it to leak like that ,id advise him to look for a bad line or a wheel cylinder ,usually these don't give any problems at all, this is very UN -usual that this one is leaking like that,,id have him check the rest of them also,,good luck with it,hope this help,s.happy new years.
