Also info needed on St Marks College and The Bedford Public house, are they still there?....Any info would be great, trying to research old family links to the area from 1925 - 1940...

There's only one sure fire place to find all sorts of info any place like this, and that's your local record office. Once you find something relevant, you'll be hooked, I've been doing my dissertation on the Lancashire Cotton Famine and I found a diary that was written by a weaver from Lancs in the 19th century and it's the most fascinating thing that I've ever read.

try either a local museum or the local newspaper archives. as for the road name change you could try the local council see if they can find the records that way.
failing that you could put an add in the local papers and or online asking for old historic photographs of the area.
