Take your ipod.. a book, or a magazine. Why not try to make the best of it? I'm going to be completely honest. I was taught to be around people you don't mind spending the rest of the year with. LOL! If you are going to be there for a friend then maybe plan on watching the big apple drop or taking a movie that y'all can watch. New Year's Eve should be fun and although I admire you going to be with your friend make sure you do stuff there that is going to be not so painful for you. Take a scrapbook or something. Engage even the drug addict. Remember that everyone had a story and everything happens for a reason. Maybe you being there will cause this person to change. you might have a lot of fun. You didn't mention your age so I don't know if you'll be drinking but you can always make a dessert while your there. Will give you something to do. Good Luck! Happy New Year~!

Maybe you just shouldn't go, since you think it's going to be horrible. If you can't get out of it, how about a fun game or video? That way you can get others involved and maybe it won't be so bad.

If all else fails, have a couple of drinks and you won't even notice how bad the party sucks.

As for breaking up a friendship, it really depends on the people involved, their ages, and your relationship to them. There's really no good way to break people up, but maybe if you get a few friends together and confront the person you're concerned about they'll take it better than just coming from one person.

Good luck!

Are you friends with the soon-to -be drug victim? If not, it might be better to not get involved. If you are going to be bored then bring something to keep everybody entertained right? Try bringing a movie and magazines. The iPod is okay to bring too I guess.. I kind of would restate your friend question seperately, ask how you can help the friend without being in the middle or blamed for anyhting.

Don't go to the party. What you plan on doing is just plain rude. If you can't go without bringing books, ipods, magazines etc, just don't go. Don't inflict your misery on everyone else. It will make YOU look bad.

Be honest with your friend. No one can "drag" another into drugs such as heroin and meth. She's willingly going along herself (if such a thing is happening). Just make sure that you don't also go down with the ship. Good luck.

Well, I know for one thing...you bringing an ipod, a book, magazine or anything else that is going to self-entertain you is definitely going to dampen ANY party. You might as well stay home. Seriously. As for your friend, your best bet is to 'grow a set' and go to your friend and mention that this other person is someone that you don't want to be associated with. Reaffirm to your friend that you care about them...and that you will always be there if they need you. Other than that, its time to give your friendship space.

Hmmm...well I guess to the party you can bring a magazine. Another thing is that you could bring a cell phone with games. That way you can act like people keep texting you and you don't have to worry about looking rude.

About the friendship thing, turn the one person in for doing drugs and then maybe they will get arrested. That way the person won't be able to be in contact with them.

I believe that the best thing for you to do is not even go to the party since you feel the way you do. As for ruining the friendship of these ppl,,why don't you just stop hanging out with them and tell them just how you feel about what they are doing to the person you care about.

1) If you are going to isolate yourself at this boring party, don't go. Stay home and watch movies.
2) If you fear your friend is going into drugs, and you want to stop it, seek the advice of a law enforcement officer. If your suspicions are incorrect, they'll find that out.
3) Lastly, be up front with everyone. If you don't, then who are you becoming to keep in their good graces? What if the friend wants YOU to do drugs too? Why wait till then to be " up front"?

other than what has already been mentioned ? take a gameboy or a psp with you it will slowly pass the time, also take some warm clothing go take a walk unless YOU feel like spying on your friend then.....this sometimes works.. try spreading a malicious rumour about the other person or make an email @ someone Else's house using her or his email address send them a letter telling *more lies* about him or her to "save" your friend from a vicious predator of the common drug war

Take the friend with you to the party. That way it will be time spent away from the negative friend, and also, you will have someone interesting to talk with. Just try to start spending more time with the friend, and maybe the other one will get the hint and move on.
