Truly it's against the law. For kids under the age of 18, you have to pay a little amount of money. And that id won't be able to log into places that are only for adults. But yahoo wouldn't bother tracking these people down, it will cost them more money to find them.

Yes under the child protection act, persons under 13 are not supposed to be on adult chat or message boards. By adult, I do not mean porn, but areas not designed for kids. In reality, this is entirely not enforced, and many kids safely use instant messengers all of the time. There are just a lot of knee jerk laws to "protect" children, while the best protection is what you are doing, getting involved with your childs online activities.

I don't know about that but why would you want your child to be chatting with people if he or she's not over the age of 18? I think that's very dangerous and not a good idea. I dought that Yahoo would track you down it would proably be wasting their time and money but I won't let my child chat online unless he or she was over 18.

Who is going to come after you? The IM Police? But do you really want your kid chatting, and will he stay safe?

Don't worry about it. It's your decision if you want your child on messenger or not.
