always being number 2. giving up may make you regret giving up, but always ending up number 2 weighs and wears on the soul. always ending up number 2 means even though you gave it your all it wasn't enough and you just aren't good enough. great now i have to cry.

Being Disappointed is the most disappointing...this would mean I had expectations that weren't fulfilled........trapping myself in a expectation-disappointment cycle..Ugh

I prefer to know that where ever I am is ok and if its not working I change it or accept it, no time for disappointment ONLY time for action and empowerment................

What I would do when I noticed the following;

Falling 2 far down from 1 = Realign my ego, abort measuring by comparison.......

Always ending up number 2 = I would question what I am doing to end up in the same place all the time. I would assume I was stuck and change my behaviours, so that the results would also change accordingly

Giving up along d way = I would look into why I was choosing to sabotage my results in life and correct my beliefs to change my reality.

I suppose giving up would be the most heartbreaking because you'll never know what you might have accomplished & will just feel like a failure. Though it can be hard to always feel like second best or to never feel good enough. I always pushed myself to be the best. I was stressed most of the time throughout school. Even being the best didn't seem to take the feeling of inadequacy away. I won many awards & medals & did well in school, but still never quite felt good enough. Everyone is different. Some people are much more relaxed & self-accepting. They don't feel that they need to be the best. They have a sense of worth even when they don't come in first, second or third. Sometimes I wish I could be that way.

The important thing is not to give up. Finish what you start. If you're not first this time, maybe you will be next time & if you're not the best in one area maybe you'll be better in another. We all have our own unique talents & strengths. It can be self-damaging to constantly compare yourself to others & feel that you have to be the best. A little healthy competition is fine, but not if it consumes you & prevents you from enjoying life. You can enjoy playing the game even if you don't win.

Giving up is most disappointing and you will always wonder if you only kept trying what would have happened.. Number 2 is good enough for me, don't need to be the best. Falling far from number 1 is ok as long as you did your best.

I'll go against the herd and say always ending up no. 2
IF
the reason you gave up is because you chose another path that was more fulfilling.

I'd take that route rather than spend a life never getting to the zenith, but having it so tantalizingly within reach. Why throw good money after bad... maybe you just ain't good enough to be No. 1.
As Clint Eastwood says "A man's got to know his limitations"

Peace

It is always disappointing no matter what but never give up. I did for 9 years, and I should never have given up I just didn't want to get hurt again, Now I am happier than I have ever been, just keep looking, you may be looking in the wrong places.

I think giving up along the way, because then you've never really tried. If you were number one, then fallen to the bottom, atleast you can say you were number one at a time (it's better to have loved and lost, then never to have at all), and to always be second, well, atleast you tried and took that chance. You never really live until you take a risk or two.
