Basically, Golden Globes gives awards for both TV and movies and the Oscars are just for movies

The difference between most award shows is who they represent and who voted on them. The Golden Globes is voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press. The Oscars is voted by the Academy of Motion Pictures. As far as the difference between the two organizations...I don't know. The Golden Globes also awards TV and Film whereas the Oscars is just film. The Golden Globes divides the movie and tv categories into drama and comedy/musical for best actor/actress and picture. The Oscars only have one award for best actor/actress and picture no matter what type of movie. I'm not sure how much this helps answer your question but it's the best way I can answer it. The Golden Globes are given out by the Hollywood Foreign Press and is given out for television and film, while the Oscars are given out by the Academy. The Academy is made up of film workers (writers, composers, producers, actors). A person in the industry has to be invited to be part of the Academy and it cost a fee. The Academy members vote on the films nominated and the winners are given out at the Academy Awards.

Oscars are for like major motion pictures. The Globes do more than just movies, I think. Television and things.
