I'm not sure, but I LOVED the book. I picked it up in an airport when my flight got delayed... I had it finished in just a couple of days.

you can check with PBS. They showed the live version starring Bernadette Peters about 10 yrs ago. It was a very good production and showed everything clearly. The movie version is in production now. I am not sure who is starring in the movie and it will not be a musical like the stage production.

So far, its just a musical but I assume they will make it into a movie eventually.
