Was Loretta Divine in the original Broadway production of Dream Girls with Sheryl Lee Ralph?

Loretta Divine has a cameo appearance in the new film. She sings and is great as usual. You may know her from Boston Public - she played the wacky teacher who was always on the verge of flipping out. Also, she plays the cranky social worker who ticks of Matt Dillon in Crash.

Yes she was, I saw a clip of the original dreamgirls on youtube.
I had no idea she was a good singer.
