it's pretty brownish. legs are black and brown. the spider is about 3-4 millimeters. really tiny. it has a white dot on the back. it's a lil hairy. so does anyone know what type of spider this is?

Sounds to me like a jumping spider (salticidae). Many species in this very common family of spiders are rather small, robust and brownish in color. The best way to tell whether it is a jumper is to look at the forward pointing eyes, they should be large and round, much larger than the rest of the eyes. If it is a jumper, it will most likely look you right in the eyes when you examine it, as if it is keeping its eyes on you....really cool little critters.

If it's short and stocky looking it could be a jumping spider. Are it's movements sort of jerky?
