OK, I appreciate that this question will annoy a few people but it is not aimed at the majority of Americans because I know from experience that most of you are honest, decent and respectful citizens. But why do a small minority have to spoil things for the majority. Oh and by the way I'm not refering to George Dubya and his band of merry men.

My Dear Young Man, I loved the hi ho song...snicker snicker snicker....thank you for not including the rest of us in with the idiots who annoy the rest of the world. Why do they do it? Because they have too much money, not enough sense and too much time on their hands (and too much of our taxes...I thought we'd already had a tea party for that...Hmm...must make a note to have another...) Thanks for a good laugh.

Tony Blair is W's whipping boy sad to say. Just thought I'd point that out not a fan of either really.
On a serious note I think there are annoying people in every culture, but I'm not going to make broad generalizing statements about them. For instance, some people say the French are snobs and mean, but I found that not to be true at all when I went there. I spoke my butchered version of the French language and they were more than happy to help me. Je suis American et not annoying..lol:)

The reason depends on the example. Is it because we Americans do the work of the world in enforcing UN resolutions? Is it because we provide more economic aid to poor areas (Africa, Honduras, Haiti and many others) than any other nation (if you add in the private donations, probably more than all other nations combined)? Is it because we welcome so many into our nation that it strains our welfare system (Mexico, Cuba)? Is it because we support you by buying all your junk (China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea)? Is it because we have defended you with our lives (England, France, Russia, South Korea) and would again (Canada, Australia)?

People are just foolish that way. As long as you know there are decent American citizens out there, that's all that matters. Whenever you want a good impression of America, think of those few good citizens.
