Melissa Anelli from The Leaky Cauldron and Emerson Spartz from Mugglenet were invited by J. K. Rowling to interview her immediately after The Half-Blood Prince was published. [2] Emerson asked Rowling, "What's one question you wished to be asked and what would be the answer to the question?"

She replied, "Um — such a good question. What do I wish I could be asked? Today, just today, July the 16th, I was really hoping someone would ask me about R.A.B., and you did it. Just today, because I think that is — well, I hoped that people would."

Melissa asked, "Is there more we should ask about him?" Rowling replied, "There are things you will deduce on further reading, I think — well you two definitely will, for sure — that, yeah, I was really hoping that R.A.B. would come out."

I just though it was weird how she used "Today, just today, July the 16th" Does this date have something to do with R.A.B??

Yes, yes Regulus Black, I heard and realised this a long time ago. But I was wondering about how she thought "that day" was so special.

JKR said we were pretty done with finding out new characters in that interview. TLC, the Lexicon and MuggleNet are all operating under the assumption it is Regulus Black.

Many people have also said that the locket found in the Black house in book 5 is Slytherin's locket.

As soon as I came across this name, i tried to think of a person whose surname started with B. I immediately hit upon Sirius Black. And then I remembered that Sirius mentioned his brother Regulus in Order of phoenix. So I think RAB is Regulus A Black.

I heard that R.A.B. stood for one of the Black family members. Didn't Sirius have a brother or something that was named Regulus, or something?

Rawr Kit is correct. Remember there was a younger Black brother who was said to have been a death eater before he was killed.
