Its called Trillian. I have used it for years and love it. No spyware or anything malicious. You'll never use AOL Instant Messenger again.
Plus it does everything... AOL, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, IRC, etc.

windows live messenger allows you to communicate with people with yahoo accounts as well as hotmail, im not sure about other ones though.....but most people have these latter anyways.
