I hope your not dictating to anyone in a relationship-that's rude and disrespectful! Maybe you just used the wrong word? In a long term relationship you do learn how to interact with other people also. You learn passion, patience, trust, compassion, and many positive aspects of life. To keep a relationship healthy, you almost have to treat it like a job. You need to work at it-day in and day out. It has to come from the bottom of your heart with sincerity. People liked to be treated-as if it were themselves!

Here's the classical answer..."yes and no". We deal with others as we deal with ourselves. Your relationship with yourself is first, number one, most important, etc. If you can honor yourself, then you will honor your other relationships in the manner you feel comfortable. There is no "rule" as to dealing first with your partner then later with friends. You deal with issues that arise. Good luck.
