You can just take his hand and lead him over to whomever you want him to meet and say, "I want to introduce you to *name*." When they see you holding his hand, they'll get the message about the nature of your relationship.

If I had to use a word, I'd use "boyfriend". "Partner" still sounds like being in business together, and "lover" sounds too much like a fawk buddy.

Boyfriend sounds a bit juvenile. Partner invokes a business relationship. Lover sounds a bit sleezy (as in "this is the person that I'm currently f***ing). Husband doesn't really apply (if you're a gay man) and makes you sound like "the wife". What about soulmate or special friend? I really don't think any of these sound quite right...hmmm. Maybe someone needs to come up with a brand new term for gay couples...any ideas?

You introduce people to your boyfriend if you have been together a short time, and your partner if for a while

For now, I say my girlfriend. Saying my partner always sounds odd to me. I have couple friends who always use my partner, and it seems to give people this moment of confusion before they put 2 and 2 together. So for now, I'm sticking with my girlfriend. Until we get married, then she will be my wife.
