I am so confused. I am 5 1/2 months pregnant and trying to look into all the stuff needed fo my baby. Well I know I am going to have to go back to work shortly after my baby is born so I wanted to pump. Does anyone know which pumps are good? There are so many out there and it has me very confused.

I would highly suggest that if you are going back to work and plan on pumping a lot to spend the money and get a good, quality, electric pump. I have a Medela, it's a hospital grade pump, it was about $280. I would get a double pump, to save you time as well. Manual pumps will take too long, and you will get tired of manually pumping. There are cheaper Medela pumps out there too. There are different brands and I'm sure they all work just fine, Basic needs for pumping would be an electric, double pump.

I'm assuming by going back to work you mean full time. So you will need to pump a great percentage of your baby's milk. You need a dual, electric pump. You need a good, strong, pump, or you will lose your milk supply.

Most mothers I know who successfully pumped (or are still pumping) and breastfed for a year or more use the Medela Pump In Style (PIS)

I have a Medela Pump In Style that I really like. (I've also tried the Advanced version and didn't think it was much better than the original.) It's a double pump that has a battery pack or can be plugged in. It's nice to have a double pump when you're at work because it takes less time.

i have an avent isis...its a manual pump but its GREAT for moms who work or arent able to be in the home all the time. it came in a great carry case with 4 different bottles, nipples, manual pump, lids, etc. it was $60 at Target but its made the money back and then some in my opinion. i would look into this one if youre goin back to work soon after birth. the case is insulated too so you wont have to worry about spoiling what you pump. good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and everything after :) !!

I completely agree with the Avent. Used it with my first while working! When I was pregnant with my second Avent came out with the electric one, so I thought it would be better and less work. In my opinion, it actually is more of a hassle, and does not pump as much out. So stick with the manual Avent!
