science has posited that the earth was here before us and will probably continue on after we as a race no longer are. But the world as we know it, is ending as we speak. In fact the concept of the world as we know it, will never be the same! technology, wars, and scientific breakthroughs have collapsed the time line of progress exponentially such that the way the world is today is not the way it was 20 years ago. Compare that for example with the art and architectural cannons of the Egyptian empires whose convention lasted for hundred upon hundreds of years. That is, people two thousand years ago living one hundred years apart perhaps shared much more in common than people today and those that lived on hundred years ago. We are living in very exciting times. Everyone should not only care but be fully aware!

It may well end very soon, young miss. The greatest and most immediate danger is global warming, which is melting the Arctic tundra. The soil there contains absolutely enormous amounts of methane, which the melting is releasing into the atmosphere. If all that methane is released, it will accelerate global warming irreversibly, and not a human will survive - we won't be able to breathe the air! Nor any animal now alive...and this may in fact already be irreversible.

When the sun explodes a couple billion years later... if you mean for humankind, then... sooner than that! We're already self-destructing... how the hell are we supposed to survive for billions of years?! I mean, with the way we're living, you KNOW more "natural disasters" are going to occur. The dinosaurs didn't live through it... we're fractions of their size, so how are we supposed to live that long (even with mass overpopulation)?
