I'm a newbie with video games and I'm playing Half-Life for the PC. I've gotten to the place where the huge cyclops monster who stomps his feet sends out lethal electrical shocks that look like red circles. Anyway, at this point the steel doors leading the the hallway where the power switch is located are still closed. The walkthrough I'm following says that after I get up to the control tower where the wounded guard is on the floor and move the switch up there, the doors should be open allowing me to fry the cyclops monster and then ride the tram to the next location. How do I backtrack to open those big steel doors?

Did you fix the generator in the cellar?
There is a box or something jamming it.
