the younger, the better. children as young as 4 or 5 could start learning instruments, but it's better to wait until about 6 years old. children can learn faster and they cannot process what is "difficult." learning a new instrument is very difficult, especially the piano, and older children (10 or 11) get frustrated easily because they do not make much progress at first.

I'd wait until probably mid teens for the vocal, but the other ones, they can start really early. Kindergarten age, you know.

6-My daughter has been playing musical instruments since that age. She now plays Drums, Keyboard, Clarinet, and her Stratocaster.Starting young gets them to enjoy music. Her Dad is in a band so she likes spending time with him teaching her music.

Music should be learned and enjoyed at all ages. But be careful of younger kids, don't expect a lot.

the youngest would be like 6... any younger is just asking too much of a child.
