Well, most countries have had leaders elected who were either women or belonged to an ethnic minority, or both. Even a Muslim country, like Pakistan, has had a female leader.
In Europe, Latin America and South East Asia a woman as president is nothing extraordinary. And ethnic minorities have been democratically elected, too. Not long ago a Japanese man was the president (elected by the people) of Peru, and Argentina and Ecuador have had Lebanese second generation presidents.
If the USA is not ready, it doesn't mean that the world is not ready. It just means that the USA has a longer road ahead to overcome its prejudices.

I think we need something new in america. I would like to have a woman president. She could at least comfort the nation, but if we had a black man, other nation may think we are inferior and we will not be on top, I think we would be better off with a Mexican or Latino president. There are more of them in population and need to get more involve in our politics. Things would be a lot better. Vote for Pedro!

I think it is great, the goal is to have someone we all agree with, it does no matter if is a woman or man as long as he or she is "Really interested in the well being of the people and the continuous progress of this great country promoting peace among man", showing may be, perhaps, that somehow we have evolved.

I agree, it's about time that we have the ability to vote for a woman or black president . . . but the bottom line is the question we should all be asking when we vote "what canidate is the most qualified to run our country."

The option? We've come a long way !! But I dont think the
country is ready for either. But I do think in the future --12 years or so it could be obtainable.

I think it is great! The hard part will be the black man you are probably referring to, is very good and so is the woman you are probably referring to. This could be a very tough election.

More than that, I hope that people are smart enough to vote for the individual that has the best chance of running the country well.
The outer exterior - male/female, black/white, catholic/muslim - is just that, exterior.

I think any president is in danger of being assassinated. I don't think gender and race come into it, but rather merit and intelligence.
