First things first. DONT PANIC. This happened to me believe it or not. STEP 1 STOP BITING YOUR NAILS!!
STEP 2 See a doctor. STEP 3 Do what the doctor says or if he doesn't recomend anything or what he recomended didn't help go to a local store (ex. Drug Mart)
and buy a nail grower polish. It helped me!! About in a month it started growing againg. You're lucky you didn't get an infection because my friend did and she had to get surgery! SO REMEMBER DONT BITE YOUR NAILS ANYMORE!!

The first thing you should do is the most obvious....STOP BITING YOUR NAILS!!! You are lucky that you haven't gotten a serious infection. If it's been 3 years, you may have damaged the nail. I would ask your doctor about it. Good Luck!

Maybe you have a fungal infection, which causes that nail to be soft and unhealthy. Next time you go to your doc, mention it and see what he/she offers.
Make sure you have good nutrition...enough protein and calcium to encourage healthy nail growth.
And, STOP biting them...it's gross and ugly!!!
