Because many of his Iraqi lawyers were shot to death in drivebys or blown up. I highly doubt any Iraq defense lawyer would step up to the plate.

Although most attorneys in America are struggling, not even a court appointed lawyer would touch Hussein with a ten foot pole. Not even Perry Mason coming back from the dead would save his @ss!

Hello =)
Because, in this sick, twisted society of ours, there are still a handful of attourneys who believe in the concept of justice...particularly that:
Everyone is entitled to a proper defense... (EVERYONE)
This was a test of the fibre of American Morality, and, for those men who stepped up to the challenge, I would say that they passed.
Always remember that if justice is to prevail, it must (MUST) apply to everyone. This is why lady justice is painted as blind.
Namaste, and Happy New Year,
--Tom
