I know most are scams and I know some companies offer their employees the choice of working at home. What I'm looking for is an extra part-time job.

No, not really. Find something you like to do and work there. Starbucks, pizza delivery, clothes stores, etc.

your best bet is going down to the nearest grocery store, Walgreens, Walmart, etc. whether they be just down the street or on your way from work. There are so many internet scams out there, and even sales jobs that you have to work your bottom off to earn little that it's difficult to do from home unless you have a special career like job or own your own company and those take a few years to build up before making a profit.

I went to a job fair once and the companies there said they would only hire a person to work from home if you had worked for them a long time (I guess they wanted to know if they could trust the person first) in their offices so they could determine the type of worker you were.

There are some part-time jobs that you can do at home like medical transcription for local doctors and hospitals. You could also start your own small part time business like dog walking or house sitting or even baby sitting for your neighbors. Make a list of what your talents are and see if you can find one that can make you money.

ya. stapling, printing, photocoping, checking names, put letters into envelopes, post letters, collecting donations, collecting newspapers/recyclables, giving some gifts to some people who signed up for some thing (like credit card/insurance)... it all depends on the company, actually. last time we could glue many many mooncake boxes together, as in make the cardboard into a box and we get paid.
