Kentucky has very beautiful scenery, great hunting and fishing. Lexington, Louisville and the Florence area are vibrant modern cities. High dollar horseflesh is bred and raised there as well as raced and there is a strong agricultural business also. There are large automotive manufacturing plants for both foreign and domestic makes. There are a number of large lakes that are excellent outdoor sporting venues.

Only known moon bow (rainbow that happens over the waterfalls at night) in this part of the world, mammoth cave (largest cave system in the world), bourbon, coal mines, marijuana (sadly), and has a high case of poverty in the south eastern part of the state.
Also, statistically it has the largest percentage of smokers than any other US state. But, I love it here anyway!

bourbon
"...the drink is associated strongly with that state...."
( the drink....was named after a county in the allegheny mountains--bourbon county--which was named after a french royal family)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourbon_whiskey
although "bluegrass"
was named after bill monroe's band
the "blue grass boys"
...and bill's from rosine, kentucky,
bluegrass music is really a form
of "american roots music"
which itself is derived from english, irish, and scottish traditional music
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluegrass_music
ain't nothin' wrong w/kentucky, though.
