I have always wondered about this! I timed it and it is several words long, not just I love you! I thought possibly her address, or that she was staying in Japan. I have threatened to buy a copy of the screenplay on Amazon in order to find out! I had to do that with Magnolia because I wanted to see the original dialogue. It would be my luck that the screenplay says "she whispers in his ear." Best of luck to you in finding out!!

At the end of Lost in Translation? I don't think anyone knows as the line was improvised. I think it's better that it's left a mystery, open for our own translation. It says a lot about the movie's overall theme and how we want to make our own ending.
