Every time I stand up after sitting for more than about 30 minutes and immediately start walking everything gets black like when you're about to fall unconscious. Is this bad?

(P.S.-I am about to turn 13 in about 4 days and I reacently have lost about 15-20 pounds from a diet)

I haven't really "passed out" but everything get black and I can't see anything. I just close my eyes and wait about 5 seconds. Then it seems fine

Blood pressure naturally drops when you stand up. Make sure your diet is balanced and that you are getting enough calories. You should not "pass out" just from standing up. If it persists, see your doctor.

My best guess is that when you stand up and move quickly, the blood flow to yoru brain is reduced enough to make you feel like you are going to black out. this may well be attributed to being out of shape and the recent dramatic weight loss.

Why not get a doctor's appointment for one heck of a thorough checkup and to discuss yoru overall fitness (or lack of fitness) level, your general health and the possible causes of these little spells. Also get some solid advice n nutrition, exercise and all that while you are there.

This happens A LOT to me. It's blood draining from your head - similar to blacking out when in an jet (like fighter jet). Watch out, if you fall unconscious, you may really hurt yourself on the way down.

To prevent it, keep your head above the rest of your body. It happens to me when I'm lying down watching TV the most often, and when I jump up afterwards.

You probably have low blood pressure (like me) as people with low blood pressure have this problem. It may be due to your dieting, though.

Yes, it means something, but you need a doctor to tell you exactly what it means. It could mean:
1) A chemical imbalance
2) Dehydration.
3) An Inner ear infection
4) Some malfunction in the middle ear.

See the Doc. Good luck.

You are getting orthostatic -- you are probably dehydrated and when you stand up your blood pressure drops, almost causing you to pass out. Please go to a doctor or emergency room ASAP for an evaluation. Your diet is most likely causing you to lose weight dangerously fast. You also need to increase the amount of fluids you drink. You could be dehydrated enough that you need IV fluids.

Long term consequences of dehydration include kidney failure.

This indicates you are not getting enough oxygen to your brain when you stand up. Anemia is a possibility. Another is low blood sugar. At any rate this shoul not be happening in a young man. See your doctor.

well you should gain more weight. not alot though. I just turned thirteen and went through the same thing. (I fainted) just go on a easier diet. like meat llike 3 fruits and vegies.
NO SODA. and always eat breakfast... always.

p.s: take it easy and have a happy new year.!!!
and you might be dehidrated so drink lots of water and dont forget to stop the diet.
pss never lose that kind of weight like that at your age.(*~*)

yeah, it means that you are standing up to quickly and all the blood is rushing from your brain to the bottom of your body. Happens to me too ... Have fun with it, it's a cheap 10 second high.

well you got orthostatic hypotension,
your blood pressure if falling too low when you get up, most likely because you are dehydrated, or could be some fancy autonomic problem.
