i'm looking for a laptop computer for under $700 USD. I don't need any gaming features, I just need it for college. Would prefer that MS Word and Excel installed. Any suggestions?

I very much doubt you are going to get a new laptop with Excel for $US700.

If Excel is important you'll probably need to look at 2nd hand hardware (bad news usually).

If new is important you can get a cheap Dell for $700 and use this free software instead of Excel

Thats going to be pushing it - Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel are pretty expensive. You can, however, use OpenOffice. This gives you everything you get in Microsoft Office - but for free:

Dell laptops are probably the way to go for you. Something like a Dell Inspiron 1300 would be ideal.

Go to www.pcworld.com and look into their Laptop reviews to see what would fit your needs. Also, for software, look into Microsoft Office 2003 for students and teachers. You could get this suite with a very good student discount.

Good luck
