Sometimes there is nothing that you can do. With some people their addiction has to run it's course. That means that a person has to hit rock bottom before he decides to get help. You made need to excercise a little "tough love." That can mean a variety of things to different people, but mainly it means to show that person that you will not put up with his behavior while at the same time never completely giving up on him. I definitely would consult a professional on this matter because often times a person dealing with an addict may need counseling himself.

Inquire at your local social services agency, some place that has counselors and psychologists. Either they deal with him now or the cops deal with him later.
