It depends...
I would say no tip at all if they WALK your food to your car.
HOWEVER,
it you are lucky enough to get a nice looking gal that is on traditional roller skates bring your food out, then a tip of at LEAST 15% is recommended, 20% if the service was excellent.
Now, does anybody know of a Sonic where the carhops are on roller skates????? I don't mind paying an extra 15-20% to see that at all.

sure, at maximum sonics the "vehicle-hops" receives a fee like waiters and waitresses. They count number on assistance as area of their earnings. this does not be conscious to all Sonics because they're all independently owned (franchised). A tip everywhere from 8-18% is time-honored. an basic"keep the replace" on drink orders is wonderful.

Yes. If you do not want to tip the carhop girl or guy, go through the drive-thru. When in doubt as to whether you should tip someone, you should always play it on the safe side and give a tip.

I go to Sonic every day for a beverage. Some days, when I'm paying in cash, I will tip them. I try to tip them more around the holidays. : )

Tipping is what you give as a gratuity for good service. You should not tip for bad service. But if you have been served with a smile and your order was correct then go ahead.

When I use to work at Sonic, we made $6.50 an hour, so we didn't really rely on tips. That said, we still appreciated the people that gave us a couple of bucks for going out in the snow/rain/hot...whatever.

Yes. Typically anyone who serves you something that requires them to physically carry the item from one place to another is a tipping situation.

i always tip them........I give them a buck or two..or for larger orders 3 or 4...I figure it's hot or cold and they are keeping me from having to get out of my car. Plus they have to see me with no makeup and my hair standing on top of my head so i figure they really need the tip

I tip them a little. It's gotta be hard to skate and balance a tray at the same time.
