it's a difficult one this. Extroverts find it easier to succeed and being extrovert they would feel very comfortable acting. You would think by their very nature introverts would run a mile from 'displaying' or projecting themselves in the public eye and shy away from it but there are many shy and introverts in acting. I think because they are able to hide behind their roles, they become the person they are acting. When the show's over they're back to being their real selves.

I don't think you need to be an extrovert to be an actor at all. I suppose some actors might become more confident within themselves as they get more successful, so they appear more extrovert. I have been in drama groups, acted in school shows, etc and I am the most introverted person you are ever likely to meet. Most of the people I have worked with are actually quite shy people too.

You must be extrovert for getting on a stage and perform, or in front of a camera and make love with a complete stranger, and being willful to let that scene to be shown to the public eye, just to set an example, you have to be really outgoing for acting.

I think great, successfull actors can be introverts, or extroverts... You would be surprised how many great actors keep to themselves, and aren't very social... But it comes with the job to be socially outgoing hence the reason why the introvert in them are not shown...

it is defiantly easier to succeed in theater or film if you are an extrovert, but really you need to be a balance between extrovert and introvert.

I think they are all extroverts as it's hard to imagine a shy person willingly performing in front of an audience.

I believe there is more truth in the former. Introverts usually do not express their feelings as well as extroverts. The former suppresses them.

I think there are actually a lot of introvert actors--they use acting to be someone else so they don't have to be themselves.
