Honestly speaking, they're both good players. Pro Bowl good? Don't know about that. I'd say San Diego has generated so much hype this year, that 99% of San Diego chimed in the voting, and anyone who likes powder blue probably did too.
Every year it's a popularity contest. Hot teams get votes. Merriman probably shouldn't have been in the voting (given his suspension), but he's a rising star on defense. Rivers is overshadowed by LT, and even though he's had a decent season, he shouldn't be there in front of Brady (even though I'm not a big Brady fan, I don't agree with the snub).
So I guess what I'm saying is, nope, they shouldn't be there. But I'm sure some diehard Bolts fan will tell you another story. And if they actually do make it to the Super Bowl, I guess we'll both be wrong, because whoever plays them in the 'offs will be concentrating on one thing, and it ain't Shawne or Phil.
Peace. Falcons in 07. (Yeah, right.)

i think Rivers is good but he probably couldn't do nearly as well without Gates or Tomlinson, and i mean tomlinson even when he's not handing the ball off to him. Gates is one of the best TE's in the league and his main receiver and when you've got a RB like LaDainian, most defenses turn their attention to him and stick 8 guys in the box, which usually makes the passing game a lot more successful. LaDainian is the x-factor, and as Brian Chavez says in Friday Night Lights they "got a runner and it's going to make [them all] look good"
Shawn Merriman i don't think is overrated. okay he had the thing with the steroids but he served his time and he paid the price and i think he's still a great football player who generates a lot of heat on the QB and when you can generate heat on the QB expect a lot of not only sacks, but interceptions, failed 3rd down and long conversions, and more field goals in the redzone. that's what a pass rusher like Merriman does for you

Rivers is average at best. LT is the heart of the SD offense without a doubt. Without LT Rivers could not carry that team alone. Merriman is a very good pass rushing LB but after his steroids use I don't think he should have been allowed to represent the AFC at the Pro Bowl. A ban on post season awards should go along with the positive steroid test.

Well I have had season tickets for years and think that Philip has shown that he is a good quarterback. He was voted best 4th quarter qback last week. I think he has been given a great opportunity and has shown he can do it. Sure L.T. makes the game but without a q.back to pass the ball correctly, he wouldn't be able to make touchdowns. Did you see the last game against Seattle? Still under pressure Rivers launched a great winning pass. But you are entitled to your opinion.

I don't care what anyone says that commercial on NFL Network could not be more correct. On top of that Merriman cheats, I bet he played unfair last year too, For anyone that wants to argue this with me just remember, he used

Drugs. LT carried his team and even carried the likes of Rivers to the pro Bowl, do I think Rivers should be at the pro bowl though.... yes he hasnt played as bad as grossman yet, and he has good numbers, and why should Brady get picked, last year he skipped it for a golf game, he could have atleast showed up even if he didn't play.

Good quarterbacks are hard to find. Usually "new" ones throw lots of interceptions. Look at what Ben R. is doing! Rivers is doing a great job running the offense he deserves the pro bowl.

humorous, and confident I think of he's uncomfortable. I did hear he refuses to leave the Locker Room without an armed shelter now after seeing Shawne lurking around his vehicle with a rope.

You mean the steroid user, Sean Merriman?:) BTW, Rivers has looked like a rookie that hit the rookie wall lately. Hello Marty Ball....
