In England, they are called a school of porpoises, A pod is not used. The only way to be sure is to go through the books and make a note of what collective name is used most often.

That's is when they are alive. Even a pod of dolphins ceases to be a pod when they are cut up into blubber steaks by the Japs.

A school or a herd would both apply. Not a pod though, that's the name for a family group within the school.

all whales and dolphins are in groups that are called pods. the female usually is dominant one which makes her the leader of the pod.
