They say no more than 2-3 servings of caffiene a day. I drink coffee some, but more so coke. I did with my first baby and every thing was fine. There is also a certain amount of caffeine your "allowed" while pregnant. After years of controversy over the issue, most researchers now believe that, although caffeine does cross the placenta, moderate amounts (less than 300 milligrams a day) won't harm your baby. THis is from babycenter:

Item Amount Caffeine
Brewed coffee, drip method 8 ounces 100-300 mg
Brewed coffee, percolated 8 ounces 65-275 mg
Instant coffee 8 ounces 50-190 mg
Espresso 2 ounces 40-70 mg
Cappuccino 2 ounces 40-70 mg
Decaffeinated coffee 8 ounces 1-8 mg
Brewed tea 8 ounces 35-175 mg
Green tea 8 ounces 8-30 mg
Instant tea 8 ounces 40-80 mg
Iced tea 12 ounces 65-75 mg
Coffee ice cream or frozen yogurt 1 cup 8-85 mg
Soft drinks a 12-ounce can 30-60 mg
Hot cocoa 8 ounces 3-30 mg
Chocolate milk 8 ounces 2-7 mg
Milk chocolate 1 ounce 1-15 mg
Dark or semisweet chocolate 1 ounce 5-35 mg
Baker's chocolate 1 ounce 26 mg
Chocolate syrup 1 ounce 4 mg

I drank coffee off and on (not much though) and I drank Green Tea as well. It's safe as long as you don't overdo it. One eight ounce cup is alright. My doctor told me that they just advise women to not drink it in excess. Some people drink a pot or more a day. That's, obviously, too much... and can increase the chance of miscarriage and it would be a lot for the baby's system to tolerate. Their bodies take much longer to eliminate the caffeine than ours do. So... just keep it to a minimum and you should be fine.

Every once in awhile I will have coffee (I'm almost to 40 weeks now). Limiting your caffiene intake is good, so if you can just do one cup a day you are fine...just be sure it's not one cup of coffee plus a lot of other caffinated beverages. Remember that soda and even chocolate have some caffiene in them. A little bit shouldn't affect the baby, though.

I had some decaf cappuccino at starbucks about once weekly.

That being said...

Drinking too much coffee during pregnancy raises the risk of stillbirth, research suggests.

Scientists in Denmark found that pregnant women who drink eight or more cups of coffee a day run more than twice the risk of stillbirth compared with women who do not drink coffee.

The researchers focused on 18,478 pregnant women who booked for delivery at Aarhus University Hospital between 1989 and 1996.

The women completed two questionnaires, providing information such as medical history, smoking habits, alcohol and coffee consumption.

The risk of stillbirth increased with the number of cups of coffee a day during pregnancy.

Compared with women who did not drink any coffee, women who drank four to seven cups a day had an 80% increased risk of stillbirth, and women who drank eight or more cups a day a 300% increased risk.

However, there was no association between coffee consumption and death in the first year of life.

Smokers and drinkers

The researchers admit that women who drink a lot of coffee are more likely to smoke, and to drink alcohol.

But even when these factors were taken into consideration coffee drinking still seemed to increase the risk of stillbirth.

Those who drank eight or more cups a day were at 220% increased risk compared with those who abstained.

The reason why coffee appears to increase the risk of stillbirth is unclear.

However, it is thought that caffeine may cause a tightening of the blood vessels that feed the placenta, leading to a reduced oxygen supply to the developing foetus.

Alternatively, caffeine may have a direct, damaging effect on the foetus's developing heart.

Lead researcher Dr Kirsten Wisborg, of Aarhus University Hospital, told BBC News Online: "How to advise pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant is a very difficult question.

"But based on our knowledge to day it seems reasonable at least to reduce coffee intake during pregnancy to less than five cups per day."

Don't worry

Roger Cook, of the British Coffee Association, says that pregnant women should not be alarmed by these results and should continue to enjoy their coffee in moderation.

He said: "The results of this study do not alter the advice given to pregnant women, on caffeine consumption during pregnancy, by the Food Standards Agency, which states that 300 mg caffeine - equivalent to three mugs or four cups of coffee per day - is perfectly safe and will have no adverse effect on the mother or the foetus.

"Further, the Centre for Pregnancy Nutrition, state that it is perfectly safe for a pregnant woman to drink up to four or five cups of coffee or tea a day while pregnant or breastfeeding."

The research is published in the British Medical Journal.

my dr. told me I was allowed to have one serving of caffeine a day. I used to work in a coffee shop and I love cappucinos, machiatos, lattes, all of that stuff and every now-and-then I drink a mountain dew , pepsi, or coke. I had to learn to limit myself though because the baby was getting so much caffeine it felt like she was going to pop out of my stomach. I'm 35 weeks now, and I've limited myself to 3-4 servings of caffeine a week. if you can do that great, but if not, one serving of caffeine a day is okay for the baby, just not more than that. if you drink sodas, try to drink light ones like sprite, mountain dew, ginger ale, and all the others instead of the cokes, dr peppers and pepsis because they contain more caffeine.
