Microsoft has recently extended their warranty period to a full year, so you'll be covered in case something happens.

I had one dud machine (died within a week) but I got a brand new one and haven't had any trouble whatsoever since.

And it's *really* good.

It's a pretty safe purchase when it comes to the future as well, since it has a broad line of exclusives and will be getting ports of most previous PlayStation exclusives.

In case you're wondering: The 360 will most likely be able to stand up to the PS3 bit for bit. The processor is a bit slower in theory, but is better at all-round performance, while the PS3 requires far more specialized utilization. The graphics chip in the 360 is superior to the PS3's graphics chip and this evens the playing field to a high degree. So far multi-platform games are pretty much consistently better looking and running on the 360 and it's likely to continue as the developers continue to explore the two machines.

The Xbox 360 is great!! I've owned one for about a month now and I've never had any problems since! The graphics are just breathtaking and the performance is smooth and sleek.

The only issue I've heard about it is that it overheats. I haven't had that problem yet...but I bought the Intercooler for it for $25 to prevent that. The Intercooler is loud as hell though.

I suggest you get it though. Great graphics, excellent layout, Xbox live, smooth performance, good games...just some minor flaws!!

I'm mainly a PS3 fan...but don't get me started on the problems with that on its launch!!

no i bought mine about 3 or 4 months ago and it works fine. the ones that were breaking down so fast were the first ones shipped here to america. it overheats because it needs to have a big open area so the air can circulate. when i got my 360, i bought a intercooler fan so that really helped a lot.

No those are all fixed. Only the new ones when released had problems, However you still may run into a bad one so if you do just take it back for another one.

well right now this is the best next-gen to get because it xbox has tested the limits and has seen how far they can take the games so now they are gonna make great looking games. the ps3 and the wii are too expensive or too many problems with them right now.

Never had any of that happen to me or any on my friends, most likely Playstation fanboys saying that. It's worked great for me and is well ahead of PS3 and Wii right now.
