Blockbuster blows. I've been using Netflix for about three months and it has been awesome. No complaints at all.

When I asked the staff at the store closest to me they said it was because people were keeping dvds for a month at a time. That didn't sound right to me, because they were charging a fee for returning it late, after the grace period. With their terminology they didn't call it a late fee, but what else was it? Now they have shortened the regular rental time from a week to five days and charge a fee right away if you don't get it back by the fifth day. Or the second day for a new release. One good thing, though - with this new setup if you are returning discs you got by mail through the internet service, you can take out a new release and keep it for five days, at least where I live in the southeast.

See if you have a Hollywood Video near you. My family no longer uses Blockbuster because they charged us a late fee for a movie that we turned in on time. When they found the movie they still wanted us to pay the late fee. If you were wondering we didn't pay the late fee. Try Netflix also...I heard they are really good and reliable.

You basically have a 1 week grace period after the due date. After that, they'll charge you the full value of the movie BUT you can return it within 30 days for a full refund (minus a $1.25 restock fee).
If you really think about it... that's basically an extra 5 week rental for $1.25. You'll pay heaps more for a 5 week rental at any other store.

Ohh... that means our family is once agin going to cough up alot of $ for late fees...
Blockbuster is only supposed to be charging a "restocking" fee for about 1.25 a movie. They were making too much $ off late fees, which is why they were no longer charging. I would try Netflix, Hollywood Video, or Movie Gallery.
