Any of the Auburn, Cord or Dussenburgs from the 30's. They put the class in classic.

Here's an interesting observation that I once heard from radio host Bruce Williams: Cars get popular about 35 years out from when they are made. Guys that drooled over cars in high school finally get money in their 50's and go out and buy the by-then classic.
So, the answer has ranged from the Hudson, the 57 Chevy, the Mustang, and now the Camaro/Chargers leading into the the early 70's.
Personally, I'd go for the Stutz Bearcat. Mr. Burns and Fat Tony both had one.

Hudson Hornet, Fill it full of moonshine and still outrun the cops. Or pick up a girl and outrun her dad. No other car except maybe a souped up 39 or 40 ford could haul a lot of moonshine and still handle well. Get on the web and look up Marshall Teague, Junior Johnson, or Smokey Yunick

The Ford GT. Ford got upset when it could not buy Ferrarri in the 1960's so they set out to beat them. In 1964, 1965 and 1966 the Ford GT smoked the Ferrarris. Ford reintroduced the Ford GT in 2003-2005.
