There's a number of different reasons, and versions. Mainly Kurt's version and WWE's version. WWE's version is Kurt had a fair amount of personal problems (martial problems, implied painkiller addictions, etc.). Kurt's version is WWE always refused to give him time off, someone would get injured in WWE and Kurt would be called up to the storyline.

The most compelling reason is Kurt was in alot of pain and needed time to recoup. At WWE Kurt worked 200+ dates a year, in TNA Kurt wrestles one match on impact in a three week segment, one PPV and has a second impact appearance. That's at most 40 matches a year, and 60 appearances total.

Kurt was in the upper echelon of WWE talent for several years and earned more than enough money, he's virtually retired. TNA just happens to be a short commute for him, and is a tremendously lightened workload. It's really more of Kurt "retiring" and being allowed to occasionally wrestle for TNA.

Merideathx is absolutely right. It is very well documented that Vince cares more about making money than the general health of his wrestlers, so when Kurt wanted to take time off Vince said no. Merideath is a little wrong about one thing, about a weak or two after Kurt Angle left Vince did an interview on wwe.com where he stated that it was his idea to have Kurt Angle take some time off and when Angle refused he was claimed to be fired, but this is textbook Vince because he has nor will never admit that a wrestler quits the WWE, he or she is always fired, I guess it is to much to admit for his giant ego. The reason Kurt Angle immediately jumped to TNA was because, not only did they offer him a good sum of money, but the work and road schedule is alot easier so he has more time to be with his family and heal before the next show. I hope that answers your question.

Both WWE n TNA is an entertainment organisation, the point is to earn money.
Same with Kurt Angle, he wanted to gain more profit.
In my opinion he move to TNA cause TNA pay him more than WWE do.
