it's a word the bible thumping "right" in the usa came up with to counter the idea of pro choice movement of the "left". it attempts to characterize the left as pro death.
these same conservtives go absolutely beserk over aiding the same helpless LIVING children and their famalies once they are in desperate situations they are destined to wind up in.
ironic...

Pro-life is a term representing a variety of perspectives and activist movements in bioethics. It can be used to indicate opposition to practices such as euthanasia, human cloning, research involving human embryonic stem cells, and the death penalty, but most commonly (especially in the media and popular discourse) to abortion, and support for fetal rights. The term describes the political and ethical view which maintains that all human beings have the right to life, and that this includes fetuses and embryos.

Many pro-life individuals believe that personhood begins at conception rather than at birth or at some point in-between. This perspective is historically derived from the Christian and Islamic tradition and has influenced certain strains of bioethical utilitarianism.[1] From that viewpoint, any action which destroys an embryo kills a human being. Any purposeful destruction is considered ethically and morally wrong. Such an act is not considered to be mitigated by any benefits to others through scientific advancement or, in the case of abortion, by ending the hardship of a woman with an unwanted pregnancy, as such benefits come at the expense of the life of what they consider a person. Euthanasia and assisted suicide are also opposed by some pro-life people based on a belief that life is sacred and must be protected even against the wishes of a person who wants to end their own life.

It means anti-abortion, but it can be a misleading term.

Because a number of people who call themselves "pro-life" would deny the mother the right to an abortion *even when the doctors say that carrying on the pregnancy would endanger the mother's life*. Then if the mother and child both died, these people would still believe they had done the "right" thing. So they can actually turn out being "pro-death", as long as it fits their agenda.

People who were *really* "pro-life" would take the danger to the mother's life into account.

Prolife is the opposite of prochoice. People who are prochoice believe that a woman should have the right to choose whether or not to have an abortion (ie, they believe that abortion should be legal). People who are prolife are against abortion, and lobby for, and believe it should be, illegal.

prolife is a correct sin free way of seeing life and our relationship with God. a prolife person does not seek to murder young children or worse still babies that are healthy happy alert feeling and living but have yet to leave the womb.
prolife and it members seek to aid the helpless and stop the evil murderous groups that pretend to be kind helpfull people all the while holding knifes and clothes hangers in there coats just waiting for a chance to snuff out another healthy inocent life

It is the belief that the sanctity of life must be preserved. This is used by "Adoption not Abortion" campains and the understanding of what a fetus is and to believe that it is a person and an individual right after conception. In this context abortion is considered murder.
