bail is when someone puts money down as a guarantee you will appear in court(if you dont they lose 10X the money they put down) and parole is when you are released from prison, probation is when you are released from county jail and have to report to a probation officer.

Bail is a promise, backed with a financial obligation, that you will appear as required in court BEFORE you are convicted. If you "jump bail" then the court will issue a warrant for your immediate arrest on sight and the poor chump that posted your bail will be stuck with paying the FULL amount ( i.e. if you posted 10% of a $5000 bail, or $500, now the person posting is on the hook for the full $5000). This is why professional "Bail Bondsmen" hire guys like "Dogg the Bounty Hunter" to hunt down and return fleeing felons. Parole is a release from prison AFTER you have been convicted and have served a portion of your sentence. Parole has several restrictions as to whom you may associate with and may have several other restrictions as well (such as no internet use for certain types of offenses). Basically parole is the state trusting you not to get into trouble again in return for an early release.

When you are released on Bail you are free to go. but the court sets a date for you to appear back into court. If you fail to appear , the courts issues a warrent for your arrest.
When you are released on paroll the court appoints a paroll officer to handle your case as set forth by the court. If you Violate the paroll the parole officers will have you back in court .And you will be at the mercy of the court .

In the movies parole happens when you are adjusting to normal life after prison. On TV when the dog is giving and enforcing bail the bail is to insure that you will appear in court and face your accuser. If you do not appear in court your bail will be forfeited and if you violate the rules of a parole you will return to prison.

A bail bond is your monetary promise to appear, so that you can be released from jail before trial.

Parole is a conditional release from prison after having served time. You promise to live up to a certain standard, to allow visits and searches by police and your parole officer. You have to get and maintain a job, and you cannot associate with any known felons.

I think bail means "I'll pledge some money, and go home, and promise to come back for the trial." I think parole means letting you out of jail before your term is up, because of your good behavior while in jail.
