Does anybody know who owns or started the Rock and Republic brand?

I know Rock & Republic are a jeans brand (I own some of their jeans) but I'm not quite sure who started it..I believe they MIGHT be a band because if you visit their website it says they have something comming out soon but otherwise I'm not quite sure although I do know they make nice clothes! =D
